In this arid wasteland grow dense clusters of small-leaved Neruñji.
Blooming with lovely flowers, but yielding thorns later…
My lover who was once sweet is now cruel!

25-35% of women living in the United States experience Intimate Partner Violence in their lifetime. This prevalence rate rises to an alarming 40-60% among South Asian women living in the United States.

Community
Anchored by a full-length dance drama performance, this project also includes expert panels, workshops, and talkbacks in partnership with regional organizations, researchers, and community leaders.
Together, we aim to spark conversation, reduce stigma, and empower collective solutions -- using the arts as a medium for change.

Artistry
Rooted in Bharatanatyam, we utilize this story-telling medium to connect with contemporary audiences. By putting a twist on established concepts, we invite the community into a familiar narrative that slowly changes perceptions.

Who Are We
It's Private is a community activation project that focuses on issues pertaining to domestic violence, specifically intimate partner violence, within the South Asian community.
Through widespread collaboration & research, this work focuses not on one story, but on unearthing collective experiences that often define cultural norms.
